Tulum– Be Still my Beating Heart.

I’ve got a confession to make… I have a crush. A MEGA crush on Tulum. I was intrigued by the place when I heard about it last year.. so much so it had me make the biggest decision since having kids.
Live in Mexico with Little D & Miss P for 5 months to check it out.

Well as it turns out the place far surpassed my highest expectations. The jungle roads, palm tree lined beaches with pale white sand & turquoise waters, Mayan ruins, eclectic people, a refreshing sea breeze & the vibe.. it just blends & jives perfectly.

There is talk that change is coming… like it came to Cancun & Playa. I hope for this unique beach town that it isn’t so.

As I’m sitting here writing this by the pool with the kids swimming about happily, I see to my right the ocean where I feel the cool breeze & hear live music playing for a German/Mexican couples baby shower in which many happy & friendly people have come together from far & wide to celebrate. I can see iguanas lazing in the sunshine, bright flowers blooming as its Spring & the locals are sharing a laugh in the background.

If I had what it took to stay in one place then this would be it. Seriously. But alas time has come for us to depart & yet it feels there is still so much more to explore. So hopefully this isn’t goodbye but simply an ¡hasta luego.

TIPS: Don’t eat brekkie in Parayso but definitely try their tacos on the beach… the pineapple salsa is truly a delicious surprise. Dinner in Casa Jaguar is something of a delight with the ambiance, lighting & woodfire ovens, and just up the way is IL Barino the cutest little open air cafe made entirely from natural elements, I cant speak for the food but their fresh juice is worth a visit.
