Checking out the Sunshine Coast

After spending a wonderful time watching the fireworks on my brothers rooftop in Brisbane the kids woke up bright & early on the first day of 2015. –Good thing we’d made the resolution to bring in the New Year without a hangover!
As its quite diffucult keeping young excited kids quiet we chose to head back to the Sunshine Coast & let everyone else have a sleep in.

On the drive up we noticed a sign pointing down a road called Steve Irwins Way. Being an awesome Aussie icon we decided to pull over at the next gas station & ask at the info centre what there was to do down that way. Turns out, theres quite a lot!

Captured them in a moment

Checking out the Glass House Mountains.

First stop was the Glass House Mountains which are a group of eleven mountains all lined up in this one valley.

The kids love having their own binoculars

Continuing on with a small map in hand we decided to find a water hole to cool off.

I like these signs at the begining of most walks in QLD

So much lushness

“lets go!”

“is this an animals home?”

Little Miss taking a break.

“Whoa! That tree is huge!”

Beautiful hike

After a lovely but hot hike we found Kondalilla Falls

It was a pretty full day so we decided to pack it in & head to Caloundra where my brothers friend said we could stay at his flat for the week while he was away. Awesome! The next day we checked out Kings beach.

A great oceanfront saltwater swimming pool.

The Beach is great for those who enjoy searching  rock pools. Which our kids are massive fans of.

Finding all sorts of little creatures.

Dakota was invited to play a giant game of Janga

The next day my brother & his fiancé took the kids to Australia Zoo where they got to see Bindi Irwin perform & pet a crocodile..etc. Which gave Migs & I some parent free time to have our first lunch date in  a very loooong while.
If you’re a fan of seafood & happen to be in Kings Beach you should totally check this place out called The Naked Turtle. Delish!

We loved The Sunshine Coast so much we’re thinking of living there when our travels come to an end!
