Camping in Kenilworth to Escape the Crowds

Is it worth it to visit Kenilworth in QLD? Well, if you’re not actually passing by or in the general vicinity I wouldn’t say a massive YES but if you happen to need a place to chill away from the crazy school holiday crowds that are so much better at booking ahead than you, then I would say yes, totally check it out!

We were looking for a place to stay after finding out that everything was either waaaay to expensive or fully booked out in the Sunshine Coast. I just happened to be scrolling through a group on FB called Families on the Road- Travelling Australia when someone suggested this town. I thought why not. So we headed inland & pulled in at the Showground early in the arvo.

We did a bit of exploring through the back gate, across the field & down a little path through the bush & voila there is a great creek for cooling off.

The showground is right in town so all the shops are really accessible.  Plus there is an awesome cheese, yogurt & ice-cream factory with free tastings!

Yum!

Also attached to the showground is the town swimming pool.. pretty cheap entry & a great place to shower as the showers on site are coin operated.

The flies were pretty bad so Im happy we had this little tent for the kids to nap or play in a bug free zone.
